Angel Profile

Who: William Tkacs, Vested Capital Partners

Where:  New York and Los Angeles

Experience:
Started in 1988 at Oxford Ventures in Westport, Conn. and Calif. Later went to Wall Street to deal with larger transactions in private equity and venture capital for SmithBarney, Cowen and Co. and Wit Capital. In 1998 founded Vested Capital Partners to work with a group of Angel Investors, Venture Capitalists and Corporate Investors.

The Next Step: Plans to form a Venture Angel Fund with several investors pooling their capital to make investments. Specializes in technology investments in three areas that offer high capital growth potential: Health Care, Education and the Environment. Sees these areas showing a great upside over the next seven to 10 years.

The advantages to a Venture Angel Fund structure are:

·       Increased industry diversification and high quality deal flow;

·       Better structuring of terms and conditions with large capital

       investment pool;

·       Monitors investments for Fund investors;

·       Pool Angel investors' money with professional venture and

       other corporate investors.

How Many Deals:
Completed 12 deals through Vested Capital Partners. Works with dozens of private investors presenting them with a possible deal after sourcing the deals, screening, conducting due diligence and negotiating valuation.

Amount of Investment:
Works with Angel Investors in the super-accredited class ($5 million net worth) interested in mid to late-stage deals. Investors in Vested Capital Partners Fund commit a minimum of $1 over a four-year period. The Fund will invest in 20-25 deals with a typical investment between $3-5 million.

Tip for Angel Investors:
Do the due diligence necessary to make smart investments. Never invest on pure impulse. Check out the company before investing, know the strength of the company's management team which is critical to its projected success.

Tip for Entrepreneurs:
Hire an intermediary to get a deal done. Few deals come in over the transom; entrepreneurs should focus on running their businesses, not raising capital. Angel Investors are a small club and entrepreneurs need an introduction to get a deal done.
