Experience: Managing Director, Growth Venture Advisors (GVA), a consulting firm focusing on growth stage companies seeking capital from institutional and strategic investors as well as early stage investors evaluating investment opportunities or seeking to support their portfolio companies. Prior to GVA, co-founded and served as president of an application service provider specializing in the telecom industry. Sold company in June 2001 to a public company. Previously was a senior vice president for GE Equity (the private equity arm of GE Capital), partner of an Atlanta-based investment banking firm, COO of a health care supply company, and executive vice president of a venture capital firm.

How: MBA from Yale, BA from Harvard. Always focused on early stage companies with diversified experience as a private equity investor, investment banker, owner/operator, consultant, and board director. Biggest value added is for entrepreneurs/investors needing strategic and execution support.

How Many Deals: Invested personally in four companies and consummated more than 50 private equity, debt and M&A transactions in his career.

Amount of Investment: Series A equity for growth stage companies ranging from $500,000 to $5 million.

Tips for Angels: Price investments with performance ratchets. Require investment by founders to eliminate OTM (Other People's Money) syndrome.
